The Cogeneration Route is an unusual cycling expedition that passes through the charming terrain of Poland’s Jizera Mountains and the Czech Karkonosze Mountains. The route is an impressive 50 kilometers long, making it a challenge for experienced cyclists looking for an intense and exciting experience.
It is worth noting at the outset that the CHP Route is one of the more challenging ones. In places we can encounter sharp climbs and difficult gravel surface, which makes every kilometer of this trip full of adrenaline and satisfaction. But it is undoubtedly a challenge worth taking on, as the combination of unusual landscapes and scenic surroundings make this route extremely interesting.
What makes the CHP Route even more fascinating is that it connects to the Czech Cycle Route 2. This is the reason why you should think about taking your passport with you. Crossing the border, we move to the Czech side, where we can visit the remarkable surroundings of Harrachov.
While touring the Czech side, stop to admire Harrachov’s city center and the breathtaking Mumlava Waterfall. The famous mammoth ski jump is also waiting to be discovered, providing an amazing experience and a respite from the intense ride.
Starting the route in the center of Szklarska Poreba, we can also enjoy its charming corners. Before crossing the border, it is worth stopping at the South Slope Holiday Center, where the Spring of Health and Love is located. It’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy the wonderful properties of the spring water, which energizes and revitalizes our bodies.
During the trip, we should also not miss the tourist telescope, which allows us to enjoy panoramic views of the majestic Giant Mountains. It’s a sight that will always remain in our memory.
We then head toward the Jizera Mountains, where we pass the historic “Stanislaw” quartz mine, which is now closed, but in the past was the highest open pit mine in Europe. This historic site is proof of how rich the history of the area is.
The next stage of our trip is to cross the state border through the road crossing in Jakuszyce. On Czech soil, we begin exploring the area around Harrachov, where you can enjoy the natural beauty and cultural richness of the region.
After our visit to Harrachov, we return with unquenchable enthusiasm to our starting point – Szklarska Poreba, where our unforgettable adventure on the Cogeneration Route ends. This route is not only a sporting challenge, but also a unique opportunity to discover the natural beauty and culture of these magical areas. It’s an experience that is sure to stay in our memories forever and make us want to return to these picturesque areas more and more often.
